What is Welactin? Welactin is a specially prepared salmon oil manufactured to maintain a high content of Omega 3 fatty acids in a very tasty form for your dog. What are Omega 3 fatty acids? Specific fatty acids known as ''Omega 3 fatty acids'' are the ''good health'' fatty acids that you may have read about for human heart health. The two predominant Omega 3 fatty acids are docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). How can Welactin help my dog? Omega 3 fatty acids have been shown in veterinary research to perform many functions including helping support a normal heart rhythm. When I received the product, it had a substance on the outside of the bottle that I didn't feel comfortable with. I notified the seller and they immediately sent me another Welactin. There was no hassle; they were very easy to deal with.

The long term affect of this product for my two dogs is still out in the future. Their ages are 7 and 4. It was recommended by my vet and one of his colleagues at the UC Davis companion dog department. It has omega 3 with Chilean salmom oil. It perks up the dogs food and they really like it. The only downside is that their breath smells like fish after they eat. The upside is that by buying it on Amazon I get twice the amount than buying it from my vet.

I have three Jack Russell Terriers, one 4, one 9, and one 11 yrs old. They all run a mile a day, race at Jack Russell trials, do agility, etc. One has extreme allergies (pulls out hair, chews skin) one has a sensitive digestive system, and one has a dry coat. Since I started Welactin last August, I can't believe the positive results - all three have shiny, thick coats, no more digging/itching! The one with a sensitive digestive system can now eat the same less expensive diet as the other two. I am SO happy!! And so are they!

My lab is going to turn 14 the beginning of May. He has been on this product for a couple of years. I started using it because it was labeled for "old" dogs, but I also use it for one of my dogs who has a tendency to get skin allergies when she gets sneaked a food she is allergic to (she is allergic to beef, summertime cookouts can be a disaster...)
So now I have ALL my dogs on it. The omega three fatty acids help reduce inflammation, and it really improves the taste of their dog food. Obviously, because if I don't put it on they look at me like "are you forgetting something?"
I'd highly recommend this product for old and young dogs.
