I have two dobermans I have a blue doberman and a white doberman. I am very pro white and i love dobermans with all my heart. they are intelligent dogs and very easy to care for. yet have a huge amount of energy. I also have a doberman forum that accepts all five colors and we love to discuss all teh colors . i would love to discuss dobermans  with any and everyone

welcome to the forum. i've had excellent experiences with dobermans in my life - both males and females. they have been some of the smartest and funniest (really!) dogs i've encountered. none have belonged to me, but belonged to friends or next door neighbors. i did foster a male briefly - he was huge and very sweet.

  Hi. We rarely hear anything about white Doberman. I would love to see a photo. I know many kennel clubs will not accept the white dobe and it is a disqualification. I have done a lot of research into the history of the Doberman and I believe I am right in saying that Herr Karl Friedrich Louis Doberman actually bred from a, yellow (White) local butcher dog and his own dog. The resulting litter produced three very pale dogs, hence the white Doberman. So in fact the white doberman could be said to be the original colour of the Dobe!!!

i heard someone say a similar thing at a show last year. They were being treated quite nastily due to their white dobe and seemed to put the nasty person properly in their place!! Prejudice has no rhyme nor reason. It doens't matter whether you are right or wrong, once ignorant people follow preconceived ideas about something, there is little more we can do but wait for fashions to change. Sad but true in my experience. Logical argument certainly has little effect on such people! I love all Dobes, and all dogs, don't see many white ones where i live tho, let's see a pic!!

The first white Doberman recorded by the AKC was Padula's Queen Shebah, born on November 10th, 1976. Her parents were black and tan Doberman called Rasputin V1 and Dynamo Humm. White Doberman are not really white, in the true sense of the word, but pale cream or pale tan. At this time the AKC had never been asked to register a white Doberman so they held an investigation and determined that Shebah was a purebred Doberman. Her registration was approved in 1978. It was also determined that the gene that made Shebah white is a masking gene, (takes over and masks the colour that the dog would have been.) This is the same gene that produces white tigers and lions.This gene does NOT carry deleterious or adverse health concerns that are sometimes associated with white animals such as, deafness, blindness, or unstable temperments.
Herr Karl Friedrich Louis Doberman used many breeds to, "create" his perfect dog. The line introduced into the USA around 1908, came in many colours including solid white with silvery coloured markings. It would only be a matter of time before the white gene emerged. Shebah may have been the first white Doberman to be registered but there were many others. Sadly many of the pups that were born white or pale were destroyed. For these reasons the white Doberman must be considered a, "true" colour just as any of the other colours.

i assume from that you still only sleep 2 hours a night and read about canine history the rest of the time!!
Where do you learn this stuff?! I knew whites valid Dobes (all dogs are valid to me, we bred the darn things, so a bit cheeky of us to claim they are 'wrong'  after all!) but i honestly didn't know they were this formalised or official. i also didn't know the white gene popped up so early. i suppose you read all this to Shadow and now he wants you to get him a white girlfriend?!!!!

Dog Training, I am sure it would piss you off if you owned a white doberman and was discriminated by a bunch of stuffed shirts in kennel clubs who pressume that the white dobe is a freak. I wrote the post to state the facts which is that a white dobe IS a true coulour just as the other recognised colours.
