Hello From Canada
« on: 04/02/09 04 AM »

Hi,
Just found this forum while searching doggy stuff. I have a female Cockapoo, Maggie, who turned 1 in February. At the tender age of 16 weeks she had an accident and broke her leg. Too high and awkward a break for a splint she had to have a pin put in.
Poor Maggie Cry
Cost me a small fortune Shocked
I also have a beautiful 9 month old ginger cat with the most spectacular thick lush tail. He is very vain about it too. Bringing Alfie home was a breeze, Maggie - then 7 months old - was delighted.
Finally, just 5 days ago, I brought home a male 7 week old Maltese/Yorkie X and named him Riley. Again the introductions have gone perfectly, better than I could have hoped for. I am crate training, as I did with Maggie, and love it. Don't know why I was so against trying it many years ago with our last dog. It took a while for Maggie to 'get it' and from what I've seen here about Yorkie's looks like I could be in for the long run again but at lest this way accidents are at a minimum. There are many interesting topics here, wish I had discovered you when I was working with Maggie, she has a few issues. She's been to puppy school and further training but she is still a bit insecure outside. I use one of those spraying collars to help with the barking and it really has helped. I could NEVER use one of those shock ones, I was just reading that older topic one them.
Anyway, I've rambled here, sorry. Time to get another cup of coffee and read some more topics.
Oh, I am Maureen, originally from England but living in Canada for more than 30 years, in my 50's, recently widowed so therefore filling the gap with pets.
Bye.
