Marjorie Knoller is looking at a sentence of 15 years to life for her conviction of second-degree murder. Knoller became infamous for the 2001 dog attack that claimed the life of Dianne Whipple, her neighbor in an apartment building in San Francisco.
After the first trial in the case Marjorie Knoller was originally found guilty of the second-degree murder charge, but a judge reduced the finding to involuntary manslaughter and a sentence of four years in prison.
However, the California Supreme Court ruled in 2007 that judge was wrong and this lead to Superior Court Judge Charlotte Woolard reinstating the original murder conviction in August 2008.
Knoller was sentenced under the new finding on September 22, 2008.
