Big Dog Parade - Santa Barbara - Not To Be Missed

The annual Big Dog Parade and Canine Festival is coming to Santa Barbara, California, on June 7, 2008.

According to event organizer Big Dog (not related to this Big Dog), some 16,000 visitors and over 1,200 dogs join the fur ball in downtown Santa Barbara each year. In addition to celebrating all things dog, the organizer says that 100% of the proceeds from the event benefit the non-profit Big Dog Foundation. That 501(c)3 donates money to support dogs, kids, and dogs that help people, according to their website.

In addition to the world famous parade, there are costume and other contests, dog demonstrations and lots of doggy exhibits.

Where is it?

The Big Dog Parade begins at the corner of State St. and De La Guerra St.

The Canine Festival is held at Chase Palm Park on Cabrillo Blvd.

When does it start?

8:00am:    Registration in De La Guerra Plaza
9:30am:    Parade starts at De La Guerra Plaza
10:30am:  Canine Festival at Chase Palm Park
