Survey on the dog culture in the USA
« on: 04/03/07 03 AM »

Hello everyone!
My name is Michaela, am from Germany and I'm studying English. At the moment I'm writing my diploma thesis about translation problems of dog websites and the general relationship between a dog and its owner in Germany and the USA in comparison.
My question is, whether it would be possible for you to complete a questionnaire of eight questions for me here in this forum or to e-mail it back to me to [e-mail address removed]?
I know, it's a weird request, but where else shall I ask than in a dog forum?
Thank you very much for having read this and your help!

Michaela

Here the questions:

Questionnaire on the dog culture in the USA

Your age:
Your place of residence:
Age of the dog(s):
Number of your dogs:

1. What dog breed is your dog/ are your dogs?

2. How much money do you spend, on average, for your dog(s) per month?

3. Which items, beside the standard equipment (lead, collar, animal feed, dog carrier), have you already bought for your dog?

4. Do you regard your dog as a member of your family?

5. On average, how much time per day do you spend intensively with your dog? (walk, activity, etc.)

6. How do you occupy your dog? (hunting, trialing, dog sports, simply as a family dog)

7. a) Do you take any further interest in “dog-oriented” subjects? (literature, dog forums, etc.)

7. b) If so, how many hours per week?

8. Which luxury articles do you buy for your dog? (clothes, accessories, etc.)

THANK YOU!!!  Cheesy

Hi Michaela,

I'm the publisher of this website and I'm the one who modified your post.

I'll allow the questions to remain if anybody wishes to reply but I removed your e-mail address.

I have two reasons for this. First, while I'm not saying this is the case for you, such a request could simply be a way to obtain an e-mail list of dog lovers to spam. Next, by posting your address in the open on the forum, robots of spammers will come along and collect your address and spam you (nothing to do with us - this is anywhere on the net you post your address in the open).

If someone wants to write to you they can send you a private message within the board so the ability to contact you is still there.

To any that decide to respond, please don't put any personal information in your answers - protect your privacy!

Also - for clarity's sake, just respond with numbered answers - no need to include the entire question.

Good luck on your thesis Michaela!

Is really nobody there who wants to help me  Cry

I don't know where else than in a dog forum I can post my questions...
A friend of mine told me, this looks like something for a marketing campaign - I can promise that this is not the case!!! I need these answers
exclusively for my diploma

I would be so grateful if anybody would answer!!

Why is no one replying? You don't have to give your exact age if that is what is stopping everyone!! I would reply but it says in the USA not the UK. I had to do a similar thesis when at college studing animal behaviour so I believe this person to be genuine.
