Hi We have a 10-week-old Dobe boy called Dodger. He is really cute but we are having some problems. We have had him two weeks now. We have had a Dobe before and other working breeds but this little guy is a big personality plus. Anytime Dodger gets on the furniture or our bed, he "wees" on it. We live in a bungalow so he kinda has acess to most rooms although we do tend to keep him confined mainly to one room unless we are with him but sometimes he escapes. If you tell him off for something and he doesnt like it he growls and tries to snap at your face. All we are doing is speaking firmly to him. If you are holding him and he wants down - he will growl and snap. He is definitely not a cuddly boy. Its not all bad he has his good points Has anyone ever noticed or had a pup like this before? Can you suggest anything? Thanks Kyle + Donna

Hi Kyle & Donna
Sorry no i've not had much experience with dogs showing aggression. It would probably be a good idea to speak to a specialised trainer as it seems he hasnt got the right idea of how the pecking order should be at home and he probably needs to learn how to respect people.
I've always used rules like we eat first and the dogs arent allowed in the same room while we do etc so they get the idea that you are higher in their 'pack' and they have to be obiedient and respectful or they are chastised - pretty much how their mum would treat them in the litter as puppies.
Again, i'm not a trainer so these might not give the results i've seen, but i'd definately suggest trying to get into a 1-on-1 training session so get suggestions and help.
Good luck with your Dobie - they are the best dogs in the world!! Kelley
