I have a beautiful 3 year old Dobe. i have a picture i wanted to put in my profile, can anyone tell me if this is possible in this forum? Dobermanns are the best. I wouldn't change mine for the world, except his bowel habits maybe!

Hi, perhaps this will help you:
http://dogexplorer.com/dog/Themes/default/help/profile.english.html#edit-owners
I'd need to see if I allowed those in the settings! I did not want folks to link avatars from websites they did not own - it is a problem I've faced with folks linking to images on our site and it eats up our bandwidth.
There is a way to upload pictures if the admin (me!) allows it. Will look into it. In the meantime, make sure you share some of those cute dobie pics in the gallery! There is one just for dobies.

Okay, I've enabled uploading your own pictures from your computer as an avatar.
Please note:
They need to be no larger than 30 pixels by 30 pixels.
Go for it, you'll be the first!

Thanks for the quick response. I will share photos of my Dobe in the gallery. Can any one give advice on a problem I am having. My three year old Dobe is getting quite skinny over the past month. I am reluctant to take him to the vets as he is so healthy in all other aspects. He is eating like a horse, and is the same madcap self on a walk as always. He is fed on raw tripe or beef and biscuit, with bones from the butcher to supplement his diet. He has always been fed this, and is usually a well muscled, sleek healthy dog. He has been wormed reguarily so no problem there. I am just wondering if it could be down to the time of year, with all dogs malting and lusting after bitches. He is entire. Has anyone else noticed that their dog loses weight in Spring?

Hey You!! Didn't know you found this great forum too!! I thought i had the secret all to myself!! Is this Shadow you are asking about? You are my idea of a perfect dog owner (if there is one!) so you are probably being a little over-cautious. Dobes can fluctuate more than many other breeds in weight and muscle mass due to their lovely nutty nature. They are mentally strung very high, and some minor changes in your life which you haven't even noticed could be the reason, but if is the well trained lovable Shadow i remember, you have no need to worry. Are you making changes in the house? New carpets or furniture? Often a new carpet or building works can upset their comfort zone and new smells (especially artificial ones) can cause some stress, but this is not the kind of stress which will cause any real problems. it is just that Dobes are far from a docile breed and you will see a reaction in them to ANYTHING changing around them, in their territory. To other forum members, if this sounds irresponsible....i have met this dog and helped train him as his owner is someone i work with via internet. If i didn't know the dog and his superb caring owner, i would definitely advise a trip to the vet in this situation. Just to cover my undocked tail!!

Hi there. Yes come to think of it, I have had new carpets laid as part of a general spring clean. The whole downstairs has been given a fresh coat of paint. It has been quite frenetic here for several weeks and my Dobe was a bit put out as he did not get the attention he is used to. He did, "christen" the carpet the first night after it was laid, and was a bit miffed as he realised my displeasure the next morning. There is still that, "new carpet" smell in the house, so you could be right. He is a typical Dobe in as much as he needs everything to remain the same. Every time he enters a room, he has a mooch round to check all is as it should be. However I won't let it go on too long as he is looking decidedly, "baggy" as though his coat is too big for him.

Sounds like it is a stress reaction but yes if his coat is really looking a bit loose then to the vets you should go! He is a cracking dog, maybe get him swimming now it is warming up, seem to remember you have lots of lakes near you. Get him in there after a floating frisbee and i reckon his muscle will soon come back, but ask the vet for dietary advice and general health check, although the diet he has and exercise, i can't see that he will find anything wrong. Probably just you being you and noticing too much!!! Give im a stroke from me! See ya, well done on finding this forum too, let me know if you are stuck putting up pictures of him, i know you are not a techie!! bye for now

Well, they can be as large as 30 pixels by 30 pixels.
You made it 21 x 30.
I could allow them to be larger but the idea is to keep the storage burden down and speed of the site up. Tell you what, I'll up the size to 50 x 50. See if you can get a new version at that size running.

Okay, I made the change and uploaded one of my own - it's 41 x 50. That's my late buddy at 8 weeks old. And - please - lets let this thread return to the Doberman Pinscher Breed, okay? Any more chat about board tech issues please take up to the general board area: http://dogexplorer.com/dog/index.php/board,1.0.html Thanks!
