Product Description Every day millions of pet owners are faced with the task of medicating their pets. How many ways have you tried to trick your pet into taking medication?Like most pet owners you've poked them down, ground them up, hidden them in any number of unhealthy foods and pleaded with your pet to swallow its medication, only to have your pet spit it out, eat everything but the medication, drool and foam at the mouth, and resist you, tooth and claw! Pill Pockets are healthy treats with a patented pocket to safely conceal the medicine - it's as simple as that.Pill Delivery treat Chicken Flavored No Mess, No Stress Made from human-grade meats Highly palatable flavor Eliminates need to use fattening substitutes such as cheese and peanut butter Does not promote table food begging No refrigeration needed Easy to use re-sealable pouch Veterinarian designed and recommendedvar moreinfovalue='NEW! Awesome March 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My dog Zoe recently has had to take 7 pills a day! Instead of struggling with her to get them down, she actually DROOLS when I get the pill pockets out. I do recommend giving your dog a couple of them without the pill beforehand, because my dog usually spits out any new treat the first time, sniffs it out, chews it, etc. Now she just gobbles it up. They easily mold around the pill, and I do follow the directions (not touching the pill pocket with the fingers that touched the pill). Anyways, it's been a week, so hopefully the success will continue. GO PILL POCKETS! (lol)
Edit: It's been 3 weeks, and still a success. I don't even do the "not touching the pill pocket with the fingers that touched the pill" thing anymore. Plus, I now break off pieces to fit around the small pills, and 1 large capsule pill pocket can be split to mold around 2 capsules, although this will vary in others.
Nancy and the Pack January 29, 2008 My dogs love these and it is very, very easy to get them to take pills using these. They now look forward to getting pills and don't spit them out. Just don't let them learn to chew them or they may figure out the pill is inside (i.e. keep feeding them little tidbits after the Pill Pocket).
Best thing since sliced bread January 15, 2008 I've been using Pill Pockets for 4 years now. I dont know why the other person had such a problem with hers.......but sometimes a few of them come crumbled in the bag....so what. You just smoosh it around your pill and the dog gobbles it down. Maybe your's got crushed by the post office. I dont know. All I know is that regardless of what it looks like out of the bag, you can still use it. It doesnt stick to your fingers, it doesnt require refridgeration and the dogs love then. There is a difference in the consistancy of the dough between the beef and chicken however. The Chicken is more like play dough dough, with the Beef a little stiffer like pie dough. Either way, these things are a god send if you need to give pills on a daily basis. It's a win-win product.
poorly made December 27, 2007 Most of the pill pockets have arrived crumbled or partially broken.
The problem is the pocket dough is so inelastic that it falls apart at the slightest touch.
Pill pocket needs to go back to the drawing board and come up with a pocket worthy of its name. It can't be that hard to create a dough to form a sturdy, malleable pocket.
