  Not as "quality" as I would have hoped September 25, 2008

Unfortunately, I am disheartened in the Wellness cat food company. Their wet food created terrible skin issues for Sage and then their dry food created a starving situation with Lilly that would have taken her life.
One year ago, I moved to Germany and had changed my dry cat food slowly from Wysong to Wellness for the ease of access to that brand. Lilly has never eaten much but has always maintained a good weight and a healthy look about her. Six months ago, I noticed that she was becoming dangerously thin, looked ragged and would stare at me with pleading eyes. I took her to a German vet that "speaks English" two times and that left much to be understood. After the vets poking and prodding and a claim of health, I was at a loss and had the inclination to hop on a plane back to the states. I began searching the internet. I bought two books from Amazon.com, Whole Health for Happy Cats: A Guide to Keeping Your Cat Naturally Healthy, Happy, and Well-Fed (Quarry Book) and Your Cat: Simple New Secrets to a Longer, Stronger Life. I love the practical information in the first book and the second book was good for supplying disease knowledge and website links, one of which was the fabulous www.catnutrition.org. I ditched the dry food and began making my kitties food by hand and serving the Wellness wet food in between until I received my grinder in the mail. It took two months for a full transition but my Lilly eats like a horse now. Four months have now passed and Lilly has gained her weight back, her eyes look good and she's back to her frisky, Tiger Lilly, self. As a bonus, Sage, my 18 pound black cat has recovered completely from the severe dander along his spine. He had been to two different vets four times before I gave up on knowing what was wrong. In addition, he has lost his excess poundage and is back to a "GQ Kitty" streamlined 13 pounds while being able to eat as much as he wants. Their fur is silky soft and shiny now.

I have three cats: 15, 4, 3.5. They all eat Wellness, and they're all remarkably healthy cats. The 15 year old, at a whopping 7 pounds, routinely beats up on her 3.5 year old brother who's almost twice her size. She has incredible speed and agility--as does the 3.5 yr old, and it's a good thing he's a stronger jumper! They're great friends.
Anyway. My 4 yr old was a rescue cat. We found her in the alley with the worst case (actually, the only case) of demodectic mange the veterinary dermatologist (who specializes in these things) had ever seen in her practice on a cat. She had almost no hair when we found her, and weighed under 5 pounds. It's been 3 years since we found her, and she's been fed a steady diet of Wellness (kibble and can) for her entire life. Today she is mange free, and her only health complaint is that she's allergic to almost everything. She's 9 pounds today, and very, very happy to have found a home where she has been as well loved, and as well fed, as she has been.
My personal experience with Wellness, and my experience with many, many other pet owners who use Wellness products leaves me confident to recommend this brand of food to everyone.

My two cats prefer the Wellness brand to other brands of canned premium cat food. One is prone to cystitis and has had 2 serious blockages but none in the two years since I have switched them to this food and Innova dry food which they also like.
